Valley view loft

For our clients, this project is all about personality: expressing themselves through their home and to inspire and bring joy. We needed to achieve something special whilst overcoming the technical issues of an existing trussed roof structure and an open plan ground floor needing fire protection.

Externally this project had to think outside the typical ugly tile hung box. However, the council were concerned about the visibility of the house across the valley in the UNESCO heritage city of Bath, and pre-application advice guided us in the direction of the status quo. So, we surrendered and proposed tile - beautiful handmade arrowhead clay tiles in a crafted palette of browns and reds.

As you ascend the stairs you get a glimpse of those amazing views across the valley through the floor to ceiling joinery, before it opens up in front of you.

18 months later our clients still haven’t installed blinds.
